Thomas Randklev

Thomas Allan "Tom" Randklev, 66, of Marion, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at St. Joseph Church, Marion. The family greeted friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Linda; his children, Bob (Karen) Randklev, Christine (Ken) Derr, Julie Buscher, Scott (Gina) Randklev and Matt Randklev, all of Marion, Brandie (Steve) Seay of Asbury and Michelle (Jeremy) Pesek of Savannah, Ga.; his 13 grandchildren: Lindsay, Derek, Rachel, Jadyn, Kyra, Jared, Jenna, Jace, Callie, Caine, Quincy, Justin and Kyle; and a grandchild due in May, which Tom had just learned about, while surrounded by his family on Thanksgiving Day. He is also survived by his sister, Sonja (Dick) Neil of Fountain Hills, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.

Tom was born July 27, 1943, in Ottumwa, the son of Albert and Angelica (Krier) Randklev. He was married to Jennifer "Janey" Robinson April 24, 1965. She died January 1, 1971. Tom later married Linda Holub August 25, 1973. He worked as a computer operator for Rockwell for 40 and a half years, retiring in January 2003. Tom was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, Knights of Columbus Post #5677 of Cedar Rapids, Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #4522 of Marion and Sons of American Legion Post #298 of Marion.

Tom was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Tom's other passions included his '38 Dodge street rod and sharing his unique sense of humor and a beer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa or Canavan's Disease research at www.canavan.org in Tom's memory.
