Bettejoy E. Ranard, 79, of Marion, died Monday, November 30, 2009, at her home. Services were 10 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. The family greeted friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children: Lynda (Joe), Mark (Cindy), Wade, Virginia, Tracy, Jess and Anthony; uncle Bud; many grandchildren; and Charlie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters: Virginia, Beverly and Cathy; and one brother, Bobby.

Bettejoy was born February 28, 1930, the daughter of Ken and Nellie (Davis) Clarke, in Chicago, Ill. She married Jess A. Ranard in 1948. Bettejoy retired from Phelans in 1996 and later pursued a business venture with her son, Wade. Together they opened Total Eclipse Tan, where she was co-owner until retiring in 2007.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bettejoy's memory.
